Welcome to Reel Shallow Fishn Charters, proudly owned and operated by Captain Gary Strickland. A lifelong fisherman with deep roots in Florida’s Gulf Coast, Captain Gary has spent decades exploring the waters of Bayport and beyond. His passion for fishing began as a kid, spending countless days on the water with family—learning the rhythms of the tides, the habits of local fish, and the art of patience that defines a true angler. Those early experiences shaped his respect for the ocean and his desire to share it with others through every charter he runs today.
By his early twenties, Gary had earned his captain’s license and began guiding full-time, turning his lifelong hobby into a respected profession. His years of experience have taught him not just where the fish are, but how to adapt to changing conditions and ensure every guest feels confident on the water. Whether guiding seasoned anglers or first-timers, Captain Gary is known for his calm, patient teaching style and ability to make everyone feel right at home.
Captain Gary’s local expertise sets him apart. He knows the Bayport area like the back of his hand—from hidden inshore spots holding Redfish and Snook to the best seasonal scalloping grounds. His approach to guiding is about more than just catching fish—it’s about creating an experience that connects people to Florida’s natural beauty. Every trip is a blend of learning, excitement, and appreciation for the Gulf Coast’s thriving ecosystem.
